The Coliseum Cancer Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACoS CoC) and provides a community resource where cancer patients and their loved ones can ask questions and find answers during diagnosis, treatment and recovery. We offer the following dedicated health centers that specialize in diagnoses and treatment of specific cancers.
Lung Health Center
Top physicians and staff work collaboratively to diagnose and treat patients with lung diseases and respiratory disorders, including, but not limited to, lung cancer, lung nodules, Mesothelioma and pulmonary fibrosis. An oncology nurse navigator works closely with you and your physician to schedule all necessary diagnostic testing in order to expedite the rapid resolution of any abnormal findings. Some of the most advanced technology offered by the lung center includes:
- Thoracic MRI
- High resolution CT scans
- Interventional radiology
- Video assisted thorascopic surgery (VATS)
- Advanced thoracic surgery
- EBUS - The Coliseum Cancer Center is the first facility in the area to implement Endobronchial Ultra Sound (EBUS). EBUS is a lung cancer diagnosis technique allowing CT surgeons and pulmonologists to diagnose lung cancer by visualizing lymph nodes and surrounding vessels in real-time, via ultrasound, while simultaneously viewing the endoscopic image. It is a minimally invasive procedure that has proven highly effective. Patients recover quickly and generally go home on the same day of the procedure.

Prostate Health Center
The Prostate Cancer Center offers a full array of services to you and your personal physician through one centralized service. Whether you need answers to prostate cancer questions or your physician would like the consultation of a multidisciplinary physician panel to review cases and discuss treatment options, we can help you meet your needs. To make you feel more comfortable, our Cancer Center Director is a certified oncology nurse as well as a certified oncology nurse navigator. The nurse will help you to understand your treatment options and provide emotional support to you and your family before, during and after treatment. The Prostate Health Center at the Coliseum Cancer Center offers these important services:
- Robotic Surgery - a new category of surgery, introduced with the development of the da Vinci® Surgical System, is being used by an increasing number of surgeons worldwide for prostatectomy and other urologic procedures. This minimally invasive approach, utilizing the latest in surgical and robotics technologies, is ideal for delicate urologic surgery. Using da Vinci, your surgeon has a better tool to spare surrounding nerves, which may enhance both your recovery experience and clinical outcomes.

- UsToo - an international prostate cancer support group which meets at the Cancer Center and is led by a local urologist

Coliseum Colorectal Health Center
Coliseum Colorectal Center offers state-of-the-art technologies combined with extensive support services to help patients in treatment for colorectal cancers. Using a multidisciplinary approach that emphasizes patient comfort and respect, Coliseum ensures that our patients receive the most up-to-date treatment and support. The Coliseum Colorectal Health Center offers the expertise of an oncology certified nurse navigator to help the patient and family from diagnosis, through treatment and recovery. Research has proven that understanding the diagnostic procedures, treatment expectations and recovery period eases the anxiety that so often comes with a new diagnosis. This knowledge also has been found to lessen the severity of treatment related side effects. Colorectal Cancer is treated at the Coliseum Cancer Center with the latest techniques including:
- Robotic Surgery - this minimally invasive approach, utilizing the latest in surgical and robotics technologies, may enhance both your recovery experience and clinical outcomes.

Breast Health Center
The Coliseum Breast Center at Coliseum Medical Centers is the only breast center in middle Georgia to be accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. A breast center that achieves NAPBC accreditation has demonstrated a firm commitment to offer its patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease. Some of the most advanced technology offered at the Breast Health Center includes:

Nurse Navigator
A unique service of the Coliseum Cancer Center is the certified oncology nurse and a certified oncology nurse navigator. The nurse navigator serves as your personal resource, acting as a liaison to enhance the quality and continuity of care and to expedite appointments for the cancer patient. The nurse navigators services are provided free of charge by Coliseum Cancer Center and include:
Medical
- Helps patients and their families understand treatment options and what their diagnosis means.
- Assists patient with accessing appointments and resources in the community
- Provides consultation to physicians and other healthcare providers regarding resources and services available to cancer patients.
Emotional
- Provides consultation to cancer patient and their families to access and determine personal needs and concerns.
- Maintains communication with cancer patients to check progress through the course of their experience to help assure their needs are being met.
- Insures that important support needs are met
Educational
- Educates patients about resources available to them
- Assists patients in searching for online information as well as maintains a library of education information.
